Tidy Tuesday - The Conspiracy Theory

I'm jumping on Denise's bandwagon, with her permission. In yesterday's post she said it was going to be a Theme Week over at her place. I immediately asked for details and she said I could play along because I would add to her street cred - her words, not mine.

BTW if you are looking for ways to make the most out of your pudding I highly recommend you check out Multipurpose Monday.

So today has been declared Tidy Tuesday.

Conspiracy much? Me thinks yes.

Do you remember a couple weeks ago I mentioned that I cleaned my room but I still had a mountain of clothes waiting to be put away? Well I'm convinced that S sent all you guys an email and asked for help. The only one that answered his tortured plea was Denise and this whole "theme week" was really a ploy to get me to put them away. Really!

Okay not really, but that's exactly what I did started. Let me introduce you to The Mountain.

Most people wouldn't show you this but I'm all about keeping it real. And this is 100% real. All THIS has been laying on my SD's bed for the last 2-3 weeks and each day I pick a shirt, or undies or socks from the pile.

So I started working...

Folding...

Sorting...

I tossed a pair of pjs that had seen better days...

Thanked the laundry Gods that I found my favorite A7X shirt...

And wondered how I would ever get all the wrinkles out...

Finally I ended up here

Everything folded in a neat little pile based on where it needs to go.

This is my plan:

Unfortunately I didn't get started until after work, after the grocery store, after making dinner, after emptying the dishwasher, after filling the dishwasher up again and after washing the pots and pans so none of these piles are going to the appropriate place until tomorrow.

I decided to treat myself to a nice cup of hot tea and some trashy TV instead.

But rest assured Denise (& S), this will be waiting on me tomorrow.

Now pop on over to find out what Denise has been tidying up...hopefully there's no pudding involved this time, or maybe it pudding would be a better alternative. You be the judge.

Love how you are sitting in the room where the laundry folding/sorting was started yet not finished... tell the truth, you were really back and forth with the television and the clothes?

btw- $11 and some odd change at Super Dollar... Dj was pleased with his nuggets. Josh was pleased with corn chips and I was super pleased with plates and paper towels.

I think you took pics of my bedroom. I have the same stack wanting to become worthy enough to get put away.

You go girl! Rome wasn't built in a day and the laundry pile didn't grow overnight. The question I have is: Did you were pearls while doing it? The laundry, not something else.

Carrie said...

I don't have trouble with the folding part, just the putting away part. My closet always looks like your SD's bed. Thankfully, the hubby has his own wardrobe, so he doesn't get to complain about my out of control closet!

Kristin said...

After reading the two of you I have (almost) been inspired to clean my mess of a house.

laundry is probably the chore I hate the most. I'd rather clean the toilet than do laundry.

Jayme said...

what did you think of the reunion show. I absolutely love Real but I think Chance is a total a-hole! Cornfed looked SO different too...not sure I liked the darker, longer hair.

Aleta said...

Laundry ~ something I can't stand to see. I wouldn't call myself a neat freak, but I can't stand to see dirty cloths on the floor. I think it has something to do with my parents. Lol. If I lived near you, I'd be over in a flash to help with the laundry!

Candice said...

You've done a great job. Now come do my laundry!

Thank you for stopping by on my SITS day last week. I appreciated all the bloggy love! Sorry I'm so long in returning the favor!!!

wow...that is a hecka lot of laundry

Shannon said...

Folding laundry and putting it away is my least favorite chore. Hate it. My bedroom is the same way... at any given time, there are at least 3 laundry baskets full of clean clothes, sitting in my bedroom, just waiting to be folded...

I do share the room with my husband... but of course, he walks right by the same baskets I do and doesn't stop to fold them, either...

Laura said...

ah the great laundry mountain my evil nemesis!

Kim said...

I HATE when I feel like I should be doing something that needs to get done at the end of the day. What did I do everything else for during the day if I can't sit down after bedtime and enjoy myself. Clearly since I'm here reading your blog I decided to go ahead and do just that! :)

Hi there, just stopping by from SITS to say hello!

Becky said...

I have one of those mountains in my room! I tell myself everyday that I will fold the clothes and put them away but then I look at it and can think of a million other things that need to be done first...

Anonymous said...

Oh yes, I'm very familiar with the mountain! I nanny for a family of 6 and I do all their laundry, and then get to come home and do ours....it's never ending.

Mimi said...

I always have laundry baskets full of laundry that's not put away!

I came over from SITS to wish you a Happy FB Day. Congrats!

I love themes. Slash. I fear themes!
What if I committed and this was my task? Your mess pales in comparison, and you actually CONQUERED it.

What if the job was that mortifying "Take Your Picture RIGHT NOW and Post..."Horrifying.

What about the crap in my purse? You know the one...

Eek!

You are brave.

Carma Sez said...

I'm impressed with those organized piles! Happy SITS day :-)

Putting away the clothes is the worst part of doing laundry. I feel your pain. So, did it all get put way the next day?

Becky @ Our Sweet Peas said...

Yay, I am not alone! Laundry is so vicious! Especially now that my sweet twin boys are TWO! Seriously, how do they bring in all of the dirt from outside???

Funny post!

I love the tea and trash tv break! Gotta do things in steps right?

Dude, laundry is the bane of my existance. It is what makes this housewife thing my Groundhog Day. Kudos for even attempting, I'm just nodding at my pile as I type this :)

happy sits!

Tiffany said...

Laundry is never ending. I have threatened to make everyone run around naked one day, just so I can do ALL the laundry and not end up with a big pile of clothes at bedtime whenever one changes.

Jessica said...

I watched "Pioneer House" on PBS one summer and when the families returned home to present time each wife raved on and on about how the washing machine was really the instrument of change in women's lives - not the pill, not the right to vote, not equal rights. Just the humble WASHING MACHINE.

So, whenever I'm buried under mountains of laundry I think of those chicks from the experiment, and the millions of women from the "olden days" who had to beat their crap on a rock and wash for hours on end, and how this particular chore/responsibility kept women trapped in the house hunched over a bucket.

Anyway - just something to chew on. Good luck with your mountain!

I have a similar pile in my guest room...good thing there are no plans for any 'guests' any time soon! ;)

Happy SITS Day! :)

Laundry is a neverending cycle/black hole.....as we all know too well.

I, however have a penchant for throwing things away (and of course, regretting it later).

I'm embarrassed to say that all chores go on hold for VH1's trashy TV. I can't believe I watched I Love Money 2 religiously. So humiliating, and yet...

Laura said...

As my momma taught me, you have to fold/hang the clothes as you take them out of the dryer. I fought this for years, but it does actually work better.

Hey, I'm impressed that the clothes made it to the bed. I tend to get really ambitious, stick a load of laundry in the washer and then forget about it for three days. Stopped by from SITS and I believe I shall return!

Tea & trashy TV always go good together! :) Happy SITS day! I do have a question for you...how do you become a Welcomista for SITS? I have notice some of the ladies have this button on their page but I can't find any info on it.

Ronnica said...

I pull out clothes immediately from the dryer and lay them nicely in piles precisely because I don't want to iron!

Alex the Girl said...

I'll take that mountain of laundry you have and raise you a mole hill...er...nevermind. You do laundry just like me, but in reverse. My mountain is the dirty one and when I run out, I sort through the dirty and pick out what I want to wear and wash that. I don't even want to talk about what happens when I wash the loads I need to do!

Yankee Girl ~ Missy said...

I hate folding clothes! I used to do that ALL the time.

Mimi Head said...

Great post! I love it! Awhile ago, we moved a desk out of our bedroom and put a small couch in. Since then the couch has been totally hidden by a mountain of unfolded, but CLEAN laundry. Then I decided to move the couch out and the desk back in and asked my husband if he would mind. He said no...Later that evening, when we were in bed, about fall asleep, he says, "What are we going to do with all of the clothes when the couch is gone?" I told him we would have to start folding them and putting them away!

Tami (Pixeltrash) said...

That is what I did today. I had 3 baskets of clean, folded clothes piled in my closet. I NEVER do that. Drives me crazy... but I'm in the middle of a BIG painting project, so I just didn't take the time to put the clothes away. Good luck getting yours done today!

And as a ps: I love that most people are in agreement that we all get behind on laundry and hate doing it. Thank God I'm not alone :)

I think folding clothes and putting them away has got to be the WORST chore ever. My kids just throw it all over the floor instead of hanging it! Yuck.

Happy SITS day!

Amy said...

I admire anyone who can see that mountain and climb it. Me? I usually get to the point where I am so sick of looking at the clothes I pop them into baskets for each person, and stick the basket in their room and let them deal with it. What a good wife and mother you are!

I think laundry is really one of those mysteries in life. How so much clothing can come from just so many bodies...and when you think you washed it all, you just have to turn around and look at the new foothill sprouting. Not fair!!
