Melancholy

I'm not sure if it's the approaching 35th birthday but I'm feeling quite melancholy today. It could be the clouds making my mood as gray as the sky. Maybe it could just be the winter blues.

Perhaps it's remembering a tragedy far too great for my nine year old mind to comprehend.

Makes me think no matter what I'm going through it cannot be that bad. Bless the Challenger crew, their families and everyone that was affected that fateful day in 1986.

Friday Tunage

Music has the power to alter my mood. So it's muy importante that I find some good tunes on Fridays to pump me up for the upcoming weekend.

These two songs are currently in my rotation:

What song gets you in a weekend kind of mood?

**Now I know why I don't watch many videos. After seeing Cascada's I'm confused how the song can be about dancing but she doesn't do any actual dancing in her video. Other people are dancing but she's not. I'm odd. I know this, but it still bothers me.

Walking with GERMS

Friday night I had a hot date. With my 6 year old nephew.

Walking with Dinosaurs came to town & being that he is all about some dinosaurs I knew that he would love the show.

What I didn't know is that I would too!

Saying it was awesome really doesn't do it justice. At. All. Neither does my pictures since I only took my little camera & we were in row "L" otherwise known as the nose-bleed seats.

But I did manage to take some AMAZING video footage of the show:

They had some really cool lighting and special effects that brought the whole show together.

If this shows comes to your town you must go see it.

Just take your hand sanitizer with you.

I can only guess one of those short, germ infested, snot-holders are the reason why I am sick. Again. For the third time since September.

Taking out the garbage...

Budget cuts for the arts?

No worries. The true artists improvise.

Have a great weekend ya'll!

It was so worth the soggy hot dogs...

This Halloween I played the part of the proud band parent. (Although I did wear a halo, it wasn't that much different from everyday life since I'm always a complete angel. Right S?)

On Saturday the teen's marching band competed in their first USSBA State Championships and...

WON!

The teen is on the end in the red uniform.

Our show this year is called "Phobias". At first I wasn't in love with it, and it's still my least favorite of all four seasons the teen has done marching band. (The first year we did Disney's "Fantasia"; second year was Frank Sinatra; last year's show was the music of Blood, Sweat & Tears.)

But it's grown on me. This little snippet of their opening is one of my favorite parts. (The sound isn't the best so turn up the volume to get the full effect.)

This year we have props that are a huge pain in the ass, but pretty cool looking on the field.

This one is my fav. That's claustrophobia if you were wondering.

For those who may not know what a "band competition" is basically several bands perform their show and they are judged on several different criteria. Typical categories include music, marching, percussion, drum major, general effect, and color guard. Those scores are then combined to determine overall place.

Saturday we took 1st in every category except percussion.

Who's your daddy?!

Tears of Blood

Did ya'll see this on the news? This 15 year old boy cries tears of blood three times a day.

Religious sign, medical oddity or vampire?

**I'm totally kidding about the vampire part. I really feel bad for this kid.

Under Siege - Attack of the Birds

This is the view from our backyard everyday. Every. Stinkin'. Day.

S has declared war with them.

Because as you can imagine with birds comes bird poop. Poop on the cars, poop on the driveway, poop on the patio, poop on the hot tub (that one really eats him up)...poop, poop, poop.

Honestly I was afraid to go outside and video them for fear of...the poop.

S wasn't there last night when I filmed this, so I washed off the hot tub while I was outside. I figure it was the least I could do since I brought the birds.

Yes, he blames me. He believes ALL these birds, thousands & thousands of birds, were brought forth to perch in our trees because I put out one bag of bird seed 4 months ago.

ONE bag. FOUR months ago. THOUSANDS of birds.

I don't think so.

Worthless Wednesday

Once again I have nothing particularly fascinating to write about. Last night I went on one of my "couponer" trips to Wags and CVS so I didn't get to relax until almost 9 o'clock and then I just read up on some blogs I missed yesterday.

Imagine my surprise when I see S being called out over at TMM's place. Cause last time she hosted a guest blogger thingee he didn't write his post until a few days after the initial link up. Then he had the nerve to be all whiny cause my lil sis's guest post got more comments.

Goes to show you that sometimes being on time matters. I mean I'm not going to live by that rule, but everyone else should.

If you want to participate in the Guest Bloggy Thingee this time the link up is going to be on Tuesday March 31st at TMM's. And please for the love of all that's holy - Be. On. Time.

Again that doesn't apply to ME, just everyone else.

This morning as I was running late again and listening to a CD cause my favorite radio dj's decided to take a vacation...As if anyone should be on vacation if I'm not...and my all time favorite Avenged Sevenfold song was on.

I love this song so much it's a permanent part of my body.

Listen to the words...it's deep.

Unlike this post.

What The @#$%? Wednesday

Gosh, wasn't SITS Spring Fling awesome?

After visiting at least a 100 other blogs (maybe twice that many!) I'm bushed. Last night I emailed my partner-in-crime for Theme Week Denise and told her to expect a later post from me today cause I just wasn't motivated last night.

And now I'm wondering where all the comments are today? Yes! I'm having comment withdrawal already. WT!@#?

This is sure to get me plenty of comments...have ya'll seen the new Britney faux pas video?

A lot of people are saying WT!@#? but who are they kidding?! It's not the first time her vajayjay has went public. It was just the first time she was coherent enough to care.

Meow! That was a little catty huh?

Have you entered my Spring Fling giveaway yet? WT!@#?

I'm not picking a winner until Noon (EST) today so you still have time...

The winner has been announced HERE!

So leave me some comment love and then head over to Denise's place and check our her What The...? Wednesday post!

**EDIT**
Please head over to Eat at Home today. Tiffany is doing a great "fundraiser" of sorts. All YOU have to do is comment on her post and for each comment a $1 will be donated to the Compassion Global Food Crisis Fund. For EACH comment up to 100. Come on people you can do this!

Does Laughter Cure?

I sure hope so. I'm sure that S hopes so. I'm pretty whiny when I'm sick and this cold is kicking my ass. It's now moved to my ears and my throat. That means sounds are muffled and I'm constantly clearing my throat. Those two things do not make for good conversation.

What? ~clear~
Blah, blah, blah...
What?! ~cough, cough~
Blah, what I said, blah, blah, blah...
WHAT?! ~cough, cough, hack, clear~
Never blah, blah, blah...
Huh? What?! ~cough, cough, hack, clear, hack, hack~
...other person walks off...

Oh well. It probably wasn't important anyway right?

They say that laughter is a cure all* so if anything is ailing you right now you need to watch this video and at least give that theory a run.

Local video...

I'm feeling quite lazy today. After darts last night...where I managed to close out not one, but TWO amazing wins...I went home and made PW's rum cake. OMGosh this cake smells as good as it looks but it's for a party tonight so I haven't cut into it's buttery goodness yet.

It was well after midnight before I my head hit the pillow. Needless to say, I'm tired and my brain isn't quite functioning yet. Please excuse my laziness, but I'm leaving you with two videos from my hometown.

The first is a local DJ that lost a weight loss competition. This was his punishment - public humiliation.

The second video is an awesome Christmas lights show that I cannot figure how to embed on my page since it's from the local news station and not youtube. ~sigh~ Youtube makes everything so easy. So I apologize that you will have to click the link and suffer through a few seconds of advertising but it's worth it. Promise.

**EDIT** My sis is so smart she found the code to embed. Thanks Sis!

**EDIT EDITED** I can't stand that the video starts on it's own so I have removed it. Please click THIS link if you want to see it.

Don't forget to leave me a comment - maybe it will pep me up a bit. And if you haven't entered my first ever GIVEAWAY yet be sure to do that too.

Have a great weekend ya'll!

I got flipped...

No, not flipped off. Although I'm sure that's not too far from the truth on most days.

I got a FLIP. As in FLIP Ultra Camcorder.

As part of our normal Sunday routine we scan the Sunday ads. While browsing today S asks what I'd like for Christmas. I said a FLIP. He said "huh"?

But it just so happened that the FLIP was on sale at Circuit City this week so I showed him the ad and he said buy it.

After a little back and forth of me insisting no, I just couldn't and him saying get it, I did. I ordered it online and then he went to pick it up for me with the case and tripod since it was a special package price.

I got to try it out today with Lil' J. Yes that's right Mimi had her for a few hours today.

So far it's been easy to use. But I need to work on the lighting.

Don't fret though I got lots of pictures of her and they will be up soon.

I know. I'm spoiled.

I'm worth it. Really.

One more video for the road...

Buckled up and ready to leave...

Just so you know she is rocking herself. She kicks her feet and makes her car seat rock back and forth. She's a little froggy.
