Remembering the good parts.

You would think after such a lackluster week of posts I would have something spectacular to write about.

Um, not really.

I can tell you that last week I had some pretty good parts even with all my hormone induced bitching.

The teen received his first scholarship. And I say first, because we're hoping for like a million more.
***
We totally dominated during our dart match, smashing the other team with a 10-1 win. That's pretty hard core even if the other team does suck.
***
Lil J came to visit me on Friday and she was relatively well behaved. It wasn't till the end when she got tired that she got whiny.

The 5th frame is downright scary looking huh?! At that point she wanted everything I touched including my camera and that just wasn't going to happen.
***
My coupon class was a complete success. I've actually been invited to speak to two other groups as a compensated speaker. Dolla, dolla, bill ya'll...who couldn't use a few more of those?!

And finally my favorite author Denise Grover Swank has sent me Chapter 17 of her soon-to-be-a-smash-hit book Chosen so I'm off to read!

Smitten

I know my last post was about Lil Man but please bear with me. I just gotta share some of these pics that I took last night of him and Lil J.

And my personal favorite: I call it The Al Bundy.

Is it obvious that I'm positively smitten?!

Baby Got Bling

Friday afternoon we took Lil J to get her ears pierced. First we went to the mall, but there wasn't a piercer on duty.

FOR THE SECOND TIME. WTH?!

So we went to Walmart. I know, I know. Everyone hates Walmart but there are two places to get your ears done here and the other one never has a freakin' piercer there.

Lil J did pretty good. She cried a little with the first ear and we got her calmed down before the second one. You'll see it was done with bribery, aka the bottle. And she had actually started to drift to sleep.

Do you want to guess what happens when the baby is almost asleep and someone shoots your ear with an earring?!

Let's just say it wasn't pretty.

Thankfully her new baubles were and she calmed down pretty quickly.

Here's the photographic evidence of Friday's torture process at Walmart:

Pre-Walmart we have a happy baby...

Then not so much...

The end result...

A large dose...

No I'm not talking vitamins again. Although, I did get some good tips from yesterday's post. Once I finish these disgusting chewable logs that I purchased last week then I will definitely be on the lookout for the liquid vitamins.

Okay I guess I am talking vitamins. Sorta.

Anyway, I had a large dose of kids the last few days. This past Thursday I watched Beefy for my Lil Sis. Poor baby girl was sick, and fussy, and having a little bit of attachment anxiety. I finally got her to sleep and when she woke up from her nap she was back to her regular smiling self. Thank goodness.

Then on Friday I met Lil Sis and Beefy at BN #3's school to have lunch with him and go to his Vday party.

Lunch was eh...okay. We had hot ham & cheese, which wasn't bad. But on the side were black-eyed peas (ICK!) and pears (ICK!), although I gave my pears to BN#3 and he seemed to enjoy them as did Beefy.

Of course he insisted they were peaches but whatev.

Oh and we didn't have to sit in the little itty-bitty chairs this time so that was a relief bonus. Then the kids went back to their classroom and got their valentine treats - aka sugar bonanza. Cupcakes, ice cream, cookies, Little Debbie cakes, chips...you know the good stuff.

That night S went and got my granddaughter Lil J and we were off to the mall with the intention of getting her ear pierced. That was a negative since we aren't the legal guardians. And Lil J was not feeling it at all.

I don't know what was wrong but she cried until we got back to the car and she finally fell back asleep. For the next few hours she wasn't a happy baby, crying periodically and sleeping in between. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with her so we just assumed she wasn't feeling well and took her home.

We got her again on Sunday and she was a little happier but still very fussy. What's strange is that SD says she was fine Friday night and when she went home on Sunday. Anyway I didn't snap any shots of her since she was being a lil Diva.

Here's some from the Vday party:

Even though I said I wasn't going to do a weekend recap, I kinda did huh?! Oh well, you forgive me right?

I'm pooped

You would think that the creative juices would be overflowing since I took such a long hiatus over the holidays. But not so much today. I was up waaayy to late on Sunday as my internal clock had reset to vacation mode and wasn't giving it up easily.

Then last night I had intentions of going to bed at a relatively decent hour after watching Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Don't judge.

Instead I cleaned my room.

This is monumental in my house since it means that I have to put away my clothes and shoes. However last night I did that and so much more. The valances were washed, the furniture was dusted, the baseboards were cleaned, the comforter set was changed out, and the carpet was vacuumed. When I say I cleaned, I CLEANED.

The only surface in that room that was not dusted, buffed or sucked (vacuuming people, vacuuming!) was S's dresser. Now my side of the room shines and sparkles and his dresser is the sore thumb in the room.

Let's not talk about the mountain of clothes in the laundry room. K?

So I'm pooped. Tired. Wiped out. Thank goodness I have gorgeous relatives to entertain you with.

Miss Beefy is sitting up and talking up a storm now. It's adorable to see her wave "bye-bye" and seeing how much she's grown over the last 8 months.

This stinker, Lil J is teething and actually smiling at people. At least I think they are actual smiles and not just gas. Either way it's awful cute.

Both girls light up a room and hopefully light up a random post too.

Unfortunately I can't say tomorrow will be much better because Nip/Tuck is FINALLY back on TV tonight. That is a cannot miss show for me. I know the story lines are corrupt, sick and deprived. That's why I love it.

Still on holiday mode...

I've been on what I call "Holiday Mode" since Wednesday evening, as if you couldn't tell from my lack of blogging.

Wednesday night I cooked my bootie off and made as many dishes as I could ahead of time - a pumpkin pie, 2 apple cider cakes, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, and then I chopped everything else I would need for the next day.

Amazingly enough I was finished with all this in time to sit down and watch a movie with S and when that went off I went to CVS. At midnight. I know it sounds crazy but I wasn't the only nut job there. (I will elaborate more in a later post.)

The next morning I got up bright and early stuck my turkey & ham in the oven and then went to another CVS in order to find a few things they were out of the night before. Everything went really smooth and we ended up eating dinner at 1PM just as I planned.

After dinner here we went to my Dad's but since I was still stuffed, I only ate a dessert. Or two. Or maybe I lost count. But hey it's a holiday right?!

With everything going on I totally forgot to bring my camera with me. I managed to get two pictures. One of the food, and one of the real turkeys in my life.

Friday morning we hit the door running at 5AM and shopped till we dropped. Literally. We ended up taking a long ass nap when we got home and eating leftovers for dinner.

I'm on vacation today and tomorrow; which really just means I'm at home doing what I do at work -reading blogs, twittering, and slacking off. Only difference is that I have to make my own breakfast.

Oh you didn't know?
My Stepmom usually makes us breakfast at work. It's one helluva perk.

Letter of the day - "L"

Kat posted a fun meme yesterday where you list 10 of your favorite things with a twist. The twist being that it has to begin with a certain letter...her's was "O". The Big "O". How naughty!

I asked her for a letter and she gave me "L"...although the first letter that came up was "Z" she spared me from having to pull my dictionary out. Thank you again Kat!

So last night I sat down and gave it some thought...lots of words came to mind - unfortunately they were things I don't like. Such as Liver & Licorice. Ewww!

After I gagged a little bit, this is what I came up with.

1. Leather - No not whips & chains leather you pervs...but like the smell of Leather in a new car, or when you get a new pair of Leather boots. Mmmmmmmmmmmm...it's clean and musky.

2. Leonardo - DiCaprio that is. I Lusted after him since I saw him on Growing Pains and he just continues to get yummier by the day.

3. Limes - I cannot drink Corona, my beer of choice without a Lime. Period.

4. Lip Gloss - I always have Lip gloss with me. 24/7. My favorite by a mile is C.O. Bigelow in Bare Mint. It's got a little shine, a little color and packs a mint punch just right for those unplanned garlic moments.
5. Lion King - Both the Broadway show & the movie. Long before I went to NY to see it on Broadway, I would watch the cartoon and sing along to "Hakuna Matata". It means no worries for the rest of your days... I couldn't resist Simba's face.

6. Law & Order - "Duh dun". You know they always play that before the text shows on the screen. Well I know that because I've been watching for years - SVU, Criminal Intent, and even the short-lived Trial by Jury. I love them all. Even though nowadays I only catch the re-runs late night on USA and watch new ones when there isn't anything else on.

7. Libras - Yes, one of my favorite things is people born September 24 - October 23. Okay maybe not everyone but since my middle sis was born on October 9 and Lil J was born on October 8 it's obvious why this sign means a lot to me. BTW both S & I are Pieces.

8. Late Nights - I hate getting up early. I'm a night owl. Nuff said.

9. Love - I love Love, what can I say? Love, Lover, Lust, Lube - wait, how did that get in there? Nice.

10. Lemonade - A nice cold glass of Lemonade. And of course, Kat's Sunshine and Lemonade. And Lulaville, that has nothing to do with Lemonade but I still love her place.

Yeah I know I said 10 but I'm a rule breaker. Besides I couldn't forget this new addition to my hottie list...

11. Lutz - As in Kellan Lutz, aka Emmett Cullen. ~swoon~ He's my new favorite *movie* Cullen. Lord have mercy.

Now pick your jaw off the floor and let me know if you want to play. I'll send you a letter and you can share with the world your favorite hotties things too.
