Table Topics Tuesday: All Inked Up

Photobucket

if you were to get a tattoo right now, what would it be?

I'm wussing out and saying NONE.

Not because I don't like them. I do. There are 5 tattoos that adorn my body:

1) An ankh on my boob that I got at the tender age of 18
2) My husbands name on my left thigh
3) Our oriental birth sign on my right calf; the hubs & I have the same one in the same place
4) A tribal dragon on the left shoulder
4.5) Then a cover up for the dragon
5) My last one is a death bat with the words "Seize the day" under it.*

BUT I learned my lesson on #4. It was a spur of the moment trip to the tattoo parlor when a ski trip was cancelled where I picked out something without any thought.

I ended up having it inked over because I hated it so much.

Originally it was a crappy tribal dragon. The 2nd tattooist changed it so there are now two dragons and the oriental sign for Luck in between them. I'm into symbolism. It's really hard to see in this picture but the dragon eyes are green. Like mine.

So I will never get another tattoo without putting a lot of thought into it. Right now I have no plans to get another one. Again, it's not because I don't like them. It's just that I need to find something that speaks to me. Something that I want.

Because let's face it - they are permanently skin deep.

Now it's your turn:
if you were to get a tattoo right now, what would it be?

*The "death bat" is the logo for Avenged Sevenfold & "Seize the Day" is one of their best songs.

Taaat's Right!

For all of you following along, this is the 3rd & final installment of S's latest tattoo.

The first session consisted of just the outline...

Then came a little color, and a lot of background...

Finally, last night it was finished.

Amazing no?

Tat-a-long

You know eventually I'm going to run out of cute ways to include "tattoo" in my post titles, but until then just play along. Okay?

Last week S went to have some more work done on his latest tattoo...

It's a cover up of an older, much smaller dragon that is better suited to go with the shiny new gargoyle he got in November.

During this session, Tattoo Guy mainly focused on the background...note the dark & ominous clouds and the continuation of the "sky" from the gargoyle piece.

Tattoo Guy did start to put some of the color in the tail of the dragon too, but I think that was just to get an idea of how the greens would work with everything else since S choose green.

Specifically he wanted the same green as what is in the gargoyle's "frame".

I think it looks friggin' awesome.

Tat-what? Tat-who? Tattoo!

Finally I'm unveiling S's new tattoo for all you non-Facebook people. Although I can't imagine why you wouldn't be on Facebook.

It's where all the cool kids are.

Including S. Yep I even got him on there posting his own pics and everything.

Impressed?

Well you ain't seen nuttin' yet.

You remember the last one he got right?

A gargoyle in the middle of his with a cross background and framed out. It turned out awesome and looks as good today as it did when he had it done 6 months ago.

Our tattoo guy is truly talented.

Problem with that is that it made the other two tats on his back look like crap. Next to the new one they look faded and worn out...definitely not a good look when showing off your new ink.

Our tattoo guy is also a smart business man apparently.

Not only did he put the other tattoos to shame, but he integrated the "flame" of the old dragon into the new work. Thereby ensuring that S would be back to make it right.

We went last week and T (the tattoo guy) looked at the existing dragon that S had, then went to work drawing up something to cover it up and work with the gargoyle. Proportion wise, S had no choice but to go bigger after getting such a large piece in the middle of his back.

So far it's only the outline but you can already see how amazing it's going to be.

The background is going to be the same "sky" as what the gargoyle has and if S ever decides to have the other side done then that will be a continued thing to bring the whole back piece together.

Impressed no?

Well I got some "art" done last week as well.

Not exactly what you had in mind huh? But impressive nonetheless.

Pedicurists...changing the face of the world one toe at a time.

Alright! Enough of this who-ha...go enter my GIVEAWAY already!

Worthless Wednesday

Once again I have nothing particularly fascinating to write about. Last night I went on one of my "couponer" trips to Wags and CVS so I didn't get to relax until almost 9 o'clock and then I just read up on some blogs I missed yesterday.

Imagine my surprise when I see S being called out over at TMM's place. Cause last time she hosted a guest blogger thingee he didn't write his post until a few days after the initial link up. Then he had the nerve to be all whiny cause my lil sis's guest post got more comments.

Goes to show you that sometimes being on time matters. I mean I'm not going to live by that rule, but everyone else should.

If you want to participate in the Guest Bloggy Thingee this time the link up is going to be on Tuesday March 31st at TMM's. And please for the love of all that's holy - Be. On. Time.

Again that doesn't apply to ME, just everyone else.

This morning as I was running late again and listening to a CD cause my favorite radio dj's decided to take a vacation...As if anyone should be on vacation if I'm not...and my all time favorite Avenged Sevenfold song was on.

I love this song so much it's a permanent part of my body.

Listen to the words...it's deep.

Unlike this post.

Finally finished...

S went last night to have the final color added to his tattoo...

It's awesome although a tad bit scary to see when you wake up in the middle of the night. ;]

Whatcha think?!

Tic Tac Tattoo

Earlier this week S went back to have the color added to his tattoo. He was there almost 4 hours and only got HALF of it done. He goes back in another 3 weeks for the rest.

Last night he pointed out to me that I had not blogged about his tattoo. He wanted me to blog about his tattoo. Hmmmm. Not sure what to say about that but I'm more than happy to show you his body art because it IS amazing.

I have to say that the pictures don't do justice to this piece - I got a little too much glare on most of them right on the cross, which IMO is absolutely stunning. It looks just like stone with all the shading and gray tones that Troy used.

This was the outline:

And then after the color on Tuesday:

When he goes back in 3 weeks, Troy will finish the gargoyles face, wings, the "sky" and the border. Already it looks so good. I can't imagine how great it will look when he's done.

I could see it already but I guess S's fragile, sensitive, little itty bitty back was in too much pain to continue. Poor baby.

Whatev. Be a man! I mean just because it felt like he was "ripping your skin off" (his EXACT words) doesn't mean that you just call it quits right?!

I really hope S doesn't see this until AFTER he picks up my Twilight tickets.

Honey, if you are reading this - I still love you! Even if you are a wuss.

Cheating again...

Yesterday was one of those days.

I took my 4 & 3/4 year old nephew to the doctor. To get shots.

It was torturous. He got 3 shots in one arm and 2 in the other all while screaming bloody murder, kicking me and trying his darnedest to escape. I literally had to restrain him.

Then after that torment they wanted him to pee in a cup. I convinced him to do it by promising no more shots.

Why did they make me a liar? We took the urine sample to the lab only to have the lab tech stick the poor kid and draw blood. It was awful.

I was gone from work for about 4 hours so I had a ton of stuff to do and ended up working late, just making it to my hair appointment on time, therefore making me late for a booster meeting and missing S's tattoo appointment all together. Poor baby he had to go all alone!

We rushed through the meeting and I finally got dinner together at 9:00 BUT we had two guys there replacing our heat pump that didn't get done until 1:30 this morning.

Yes among all the other madness in my life we had to replace our f'in heat pump. And yet here I am...tired, overworked and with lighter pockets. Life is good.

Especially when you get an award like this.

Tattooed Minivan Mom bestowed it on me a couple days ago and I'm still giddy with delight. And since I've finished my morning coffee, I should have enough caffeine in my system to make my brain function enough to answer the accompanying questions.

1. Do you have the same friends since childhood?
Not unless you count my sisters.

2. What do you value most about your friends?
Honesty, loyalty and there overall undying love for me - I'm joking. Sorta.

3. Are your friends sounding boards?
Oh yeah. S gets the bulk of it, but we definitely use each other to get our frustrations out.

4. What is your favorite activity to share with friends?
Talking, shopping, just being together

I'm passing along the friendship love to

-Kim - We both love rock music and bad tv. Nuff said.

-Angie - I'm new to Angie's blog but I love her Monday posts. They are smoking hot. Plus, she loved all my favorite things for this swap.

-Kat - Not only is her blog smart, funny and well written but the lady behind the blog has got to be the most compassionate person ever. If you know her, you know why.

And since I can't leave you all hanging, here is a preview of S's new tattoo.

This is only the outline. He goes back in 3 weeks for the color and they are already talking about doing the whole back so who knows where this is headed.

Happy hump day ya'll!

The unveiling...

Sorry for the wait, but it's been a busy day.

First things first. Yes, it hurt. Anyone who tells you that tattoos do not hurt is a liar. They do. For gosh sakes it's a needles (or several) piercing your skin repeatedly.

It wasn't unbearable but my right shoulder is tender as hell now. And we have darts tomorrow. It should be interesting to say the least.

Okay here it is...drumroll please...

Errr...wait that's not me or my ink. Although I wouldn't be disappointed if that were my waist.

Do you guys remember the episode of Friends where Phoebe got a tattoo?

PHOEBE: Wanna see mine, wanna see mine?

MONICA: Yes.

RACHEL: What? You didn't get one.

PHOEBE: OK, well then what is this?

RICHARD: What're we looking at? That blue freckle?

PHOEBE: OK, that's my tattoo.

RACHEL: That is not a tattoo, that is a nothing. I finally got her back in the chair, bairly touched her with a needle, she jumped up screaming, and that was it.

PHOEBE: OK, hi. For your information this is exactly what I wanted. This is a tattoo of the earth as seen from a great distance. It's the way my mother sees me from heaven.

RACHEL: Oh, what a load of crap. That is a dot. Your mother is up in heaven going, 'Where the hell is my lily, you wuss?'

That was the funniest show! ~sigh~

What? Oh that's right I still haven't presented my newest addition.

Tada!

Oh I know, I know you don't get it. But as a true, hardcore A7X fan it's something I wanted to do.

Their "logo" is a deathbat.

And one of their best songs is Seize the Day so I combined the two with a few girly touches added a sprinkle of Troy's magic and VOILA!

Here's a few more pictures of my torture journey at the tattoo studio.

I hope I didn't detour anyone from getting one but I'm keeping it real. It is not done with Qtips.

If it were completely painless what would you get? And why?
