Ziggy is not for me...

Everyone around me has nicknames. Both sisters, my Father, my Stepmother...

Even the kids have shorter, cuter versions of their original names and then there is some completely different based on physical descriptions. My niece is often known as "Beefy" cause although she's a beauty, she was also a hefty baby.

SS's nickname is Stash. He had a mustache for a while in 8th & 9th grade so during his first band camp, they graced him with that nickname.

Since then he's had several others too, but for some reason Stash is stuck. Even though the "stash" gets razor-ed every week now.

The "stash" made a comeback in cake form for his 16th birthday.

And then there is S. He has several nicknames too, most notably Woodrow or Woody. So I had no choice but to pick up this sign while at the beach:

Me? I've never really had a nickname. A pal of mine calls me Bia, but it's never caught on with anyone else so I remain just Brandy to most.

Don't get me wrong. I like my name. I've always liked my name, putting it on everything from t-shirts and key chains to license plates.

It's time I took matters into my own hands.

I found a nickname generator where you could choose what "style" nickname you want. I choose rockstar and my official ROCKSTAR nickname is:

Ziggy Stardust

Maybe a nickname is not for me.

Want to find yours? Check it out HERE.

I always wanted a nickname too! I never really had one. When I was in junior high school (dating myself here--before they had middle schools) I took French and some of my friends who took French called me Nice for a while (pronounced Niece) after the French Mediterranean city. But it didn't last long. Darrell would call me Den-Den sometimes but not often. So no nickname. My name apparently doesn't lend itself to a nickname. But with all my crazy antics on my blog maybe we should come up with Wack-O or Crazy Woman.

So let's think of nickname for the two of us! Maybe we could be Thelma and Louise. Which one sleeps with Brad Pitt?

Ziggy makes me think of the cartoon. I've had only one nickname and ONLY my family has ever called me it or is allowed to.

Thanks for stopping by and welcoming me. Yes, I was glad it was "the good one" or I wouldn't have posted it, but rather cute.. LOVED IT!

Ziggy Stardust, nice. My grandma always called me Maime. In 8th grade, I cut my hair into a really short bob during the time we were studying ancient Egypt so my friends called me Cleo. My silly sisters have given me lot's of weird nicknames, but mostly I just get called Charmaine. Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog to welcome me to SITS!

Awesome link! My debate students and I had some downtime and found new names for the different team members.

I've never had a nickname, either. Your redneck name generator suggests "Hattie Hollerand". Too long. But I kind of like Hattie...

Let's see I got by Rox, Roxy, Rox-my-sock (my friend Brian coined that one), Rox-A-Lot (like mix-a-lot!), tiny, and my dad usually calls me pig (bc i eat alot!)

The name generator was not nearly as cool and picked Maria, and Isabella...

I've never had a real nickname, either. My middle name is Lu (I know, I know) so there are a large faction of people who still call me TammyLu or Tamalu. In grad school I had a friend who called me Tama and I dug that - like the cymbals - but it never stuck. Recently we got a check from my daughters guitar teacher, Larz, and learned that his real name is Larry, prompting me to take a shot at Tamz. I was the only one amused...

Hee Hee! Daddy calls me....

"Baby Cracker Hand"
(I know, right?!)
Why? Because it annoyed me, then it just stuck.

Look, I have given you some nicknames you wont tell anybody, but the nickname that is going to stick is MIMI since you dont want to be a nanna or granny or grandma. But I have a bunch.

Barking chicken or wounded hamster... that nickname thing has issues.
I agree, I always wanted a nickname, people would call me Brand... but I hated it only one friend said it and didn't maike it sound bad, so to this day she knows she is the only one allowed to call me Brand.
My BFF after High school calls me B
Which I LOVE, because people who dont know me hear it and think i'm a Bitch and stay away... (although i'm sure I know at least one person that really things I am A B) but anyone who knows me knows it's J's nick for me. (ha ha, Aren't we creative!!!)

No nickname here either. Isn't David Bowie Ziggy Stardust?

I always hated my name, so I wanted a nick name. But oddly enough I don't want my kids to go by nick names (besides their blog land aliases). I like people to call them by their given name!
