Now you may go hurl.

They are place cards for a party this weekend. He's a Harley pal of ours so I found Harley Davidson paper at Michael's and made my own place cards using labels.
I should be happy about it since we haven't gotten in rain in weeks but I really, really hate when I have to go out and it's raining. Now if I can stay in and sleep all day...that's a whole different story.
For me, rain = sleep. Needless to say I've been having a
And so because of my laziness, lack of motivation and working for family situation I rarely dry my hair for work anymore. Luckily, I have naturally curly hair so it's not all bad. I say ALL bad because I have a love/hate relationship with my hair.
I love that I can go to work wet, that it has a natural bounce to it (most of the time) and that I get lots of compliments on it.
I hate that I cannot get a fancy new hairstyle unless I want to spend hours blow drying my hair, only to have it ruined at the first sign of rain or humidity.
I hate that my hair looks the same all the time...you have a choice between down, pulled up at the crown or ponytail and that's about all that I can really do without looking retarded. (Today: pulled up at the crown.)
I hate that I'm a 32 year old woman and I have hair reminiscent of a child Ala Shirley Temple or a poodle.
So NOT a good look for an adult.
I know it could be worse but you know how it is. People with curly hair want straight and vice versa.
It's always the straight haired gals that compliment me and make a fuss about my curls, because us curly haired chicks know it ain't all its cracked up to be.

For one my house needs a serious good cleaning. I talking about top to bottom, windowsills, baseboards, the whole enchilada. But instead of cleaning on Sunday, I took a nap. Definite lack of motivation here.
I also need to get rolling on the baby shower, shop for birthday presents and Christmas (HELLO! It's less than 4 months away...yes, I said LESS THAN), work on booster projects, and at this very moment I should be working instead of blogging.
I suppose it's everything combined that makes it all seem overwhelming and it's got me psyched out. I've been slacking on my menu plans and making new recipes...instead we had a frozen food mecca at my house last week.
I need to get on track. And quick.
I have some good news though. (No, I did not save a bunch of money on my car insurance...)
I think Mickey has taken up residence somewhere else (based on the amount of poison around my house, I would say he's in mice heaven) but I'm still keeping an eye out for any evidence.
And I've taken a look at the new TV line up for this fall...lots to look forward to including the "new" 90210, Gossip Girl, The Shield and last but not least True Blood on HBO.
You know I ♥ vampires!
I just realized the other day this has been a thing of mine for a long time. When I was younger, think middle school age, I loved, loved, loved the original Salem's Lot and I would stay up late on school night's to watch it over and over unbeknownst to my parents.
What shows are you looking forward to?

This year's theme is Blood, Sweat & Tears - 40th Anniversary...we are playing Lucretia Macevil, God Bless the Child, You Make Me So Very Happy and More & More.
Now, I'm not a fan of BS&T and I only know God Bless the Child (I had to take my band shirt off just to get the song titles) so I don't find our show this year as interesting as last year's Sinatra/Jazz. If it weren't for You Tube I wouldn't even know what these doods looked like.
But I will still be there cheering them on for every game and competition this season. Cause I'm a parent and it's what we do...

But hopefully he will be gone soon enough since the exterminator is coming today to put out traps galore and spray everything within a 10 mile radius of my house. (Okay, so that was a bit of an exaggeration but I have a flair for the dramatic when there is a rodent dwelling in my house. Sue me. Or don't since I am using my extra money to pay for the afore mentioned killing spree.)
Anyway I hope this solves my issue so that I can move on to other nagging things happening in the next few weeks.
Such as a baby shower.
For my first grand child.
No, I'm not that old, but shit happens. (For those who wonder, I am 32, S is 36 and my SS and mother of my first grandchild is 17. As I said, shit happens, or in this case a baby happened.)
I would like to have the baby shower around the middle part of September since the official due date is October 10th. But I have just now looked at the calendar and realized that it is almost the end of August. Where in the hell did the time go?
Now I'm smack dab in the middle of marching season. Me being the prez and all it's very time consuming with football games, competitions and fundraisers. Plus, there is an A7X concert about 4 hours away on September 6th that I really want to go to and I know I would regret missing it since they don't come around here often.
Throw in a couple of birthdays, homecoming and weekend guests (Invited human variety this time.) and I have a whole lot of crap happening. Do you ever wish Calgon could really take you away?
But I'm here in the real world and dealing.
If you sympathize with me, please share your best baby shower ideas. I've already gotten the invitations and a few other necessities but I'm lacking creativity for the actual party. Games or no games? Which ones are the best? Food ideas? Anything you got is welcome.

I hate not being able to breathe when I'm trying to sleep. Or when snot runs, yes, literally runs out of your nose. I know it's gross, but it's true. I woke up 3 nights in a row because of it.
Since I was sickly and not in the mood to do much of anything I finished reading the Twilight series this weekend. I ♥ those books more than should be humanly possible. The story was just...that good. I will probably see the movie when it comes out but with low expectations.
When I read, I actually see the book play out like a movie in my head and Hollywood has never been as good as my imagination. (Am I the only one that experiences this?)
In other not-so-good news it seems we have a visitor at my house. Although I haven't seen Mickey yet, I'm 100% sure he's there because I found the
I am/was completely grossed out so I bleached the counters and stove. Put everything in the dishwasher and did a thorough inspection of the other cabinets. It seems he was only around the stove and under the sink but still it's DISGUSTING so we're having an exterminator come out and get rid of him. I can't even stand to think about it...ewww.
My Dad thinks I'm over dramatizing the whole thing and that we should set traps; we did put some poison down but it creeps me out and I'd rather know he's gone...permanently.

With the help of this site I was able to create a Favicon, also known as a website icon, or shortcut icon. Still don't know what it is? Take a look at my url in your bar up there...see that round thing.
It's this but much, much, much smaller.
Dontcha love it?

S says I need happy pills.
And I've considered it. Along with Seasonale or one of those other birth control options that reduce your period to about 4 times a year. I have no intentions of getting pregnant (it's pretty impossible with the blanks shooting my way) so why do I need to deal with a period?
Wait. There is one plus.
It was the perfect excuse to make a cake...and eat two pieces. What is it about chocolate that makes it better?
Informercials are my thang, and most of the time I can refrain from being drawn in and ordering a useless piece of crap.
I finally caved for the ped egg since they had it at CVS which means no shipping, I used ECB's (ie, free money) and I'm PMSing so it made me happy.
I already used it and it seems to work just like the commercial says and trust me - I needed it. I haven't gotten a pedicure since the beginning of June and my feet were getting a little crusty. Ewwww. Gross, but true.
Have you tried anything from an informercial? Did you love it or hate it?
Monday: "S" sandwiches*, PW's onion strings recipe, leftover cake
Tuesday: Baked spaghetti, french bread
Wednesday: Breakfast for dinner: Eggs, home fries, turkey bacon (or sausage, undecided), toast
Thursday: Macaroni & Cheese with Ham, green beans, croissants
Friday: Grilled chicken breasts, rice, beans
Sunday: Roasted pork loin (anyone have a good recipe?) w/ potatoes & carrots
*"S" sandwiches were made to duplicate my hubbies favorite sandwich from a local restaurant. I take thin chicken breasts and grill them, then top the chicken with provolone cheese and pepperoni. This goes on a toasted bagel and is served with a side of ranch.
I did really well last week, only having cereal for dinner one night. I really missed having a menu plan, especially once S & SS were home. We had Pizza Hut Friday night and then had AMAZING steaks on the grill Saturday. Last night I made a ton of baked spaghetti so we are having the leftovers one night this week.
I've been trying to use things that we have on hand to reduce waste and so far it's been working, but I'd like a little more variety. If you are like me and need inspiration visit Organizing Junkie for more menu plans!

Because of this I don't sleep well. At all. Sunday night it was after 1 when I finally fell asleep and then I woke up several times throughout the night. Monday night it was after 12:30 and last night it was after 12. I woke up no less than 4 times last night; I even thought about posting a blog at 5 this morning since I was already up. By the time he gets home on Friday I will be exhausted.
I've been like these for years. I'd like to blame it on something but I can't. At our old house in the city there was a shooting (that was later determined to be a love triangle issue)nearby one night when I was alone, but honestly I was this way before then.
Even when it's just SS and I it still makes me feel better about it all. Trust me when I say that kid could sleep through a nuclear bomb and yet it's comforting to have someone there. One time the smoke alarm was going off because it needed new batteries and he put his pillow over his head and kept on sleeping.
Realistically I know that we have a very low crime rate in my county. For heaven's sake they list the arrests in the local paper and most of them are alcohol related. But on the other hand I know that doesn't mean it could never happen. I guess that's why I'm so skittish.
~sigh~ I'm such a wuss.

When I originally heard about the Twilight series from Lula I googled and found out they were about Vampires, which instantly hooked me. But this series is about so much more..."young adult" my ass.
And I'm not the only adult in love with them. While I was at Kroger this weekend, doing my fundraising duty I picked up the rest of the series. I set them on our table so that I could pay for them once we were done. More people were interested in the books than the Kroger Plus cards. Seriously.
I'm reading the second in the series, New Moon.
It's a welcome distraction this week since S and SS are at band camp, my boss aka Dad is in Sturgis and my bff moved to WV...needless to say I'm all alone. Good thing I have Bella, Edward, Charlie and all the Forks people to keep me company this week. I think I hear them calling my name...

Yesterday did not turn out to be one of my better days, so when I got home and saw my new shiny Twilight book on the table it just made everything else fade away.
I just learned about this book the other day but I've always loved to read since I was a itty bitty baby. (Impossible as that seems...that I was itty bitty, not that I read. ~no snickering~) So I'm not sure if it's just the anticipation of reading this much hyped book or just the fact that I have a new one but either way it definitely pulled me out of my funk.
However I found some restraint and decided not to start reading at 10:30 last night because I knew in my heart that I would stay up the better part of the night getting caught up in this story.
So after I volunteer my time at tomorrow's band fundraiser (I'm not even going there today!) I will snuggle into the couch with my new friend and dive into a new world of love and vampires.
If you don't hear from me, you'll know why.
(But I will probably find it impossible to stay away and I'll be compelled to share my love of all things vampire so don't stray too far away.)
In the meantime you can keep singing...
