Beginning of the end...

Tonight is our first football game of the season and the beginning of the end of my Friday nights. Until the end of October (and possibly beyond) I will be in the bleachers, not rooting for our sucky football team, but supporting SS and the marching band.

This year's theme is Blood, Sweat & Tears - 40th Anniversary...we are playing Lucretia Macevil, God Bless the Child, You Make Me So Very Happy and More & More.

Now, I'm not a fan of BS&T and I only know God Bless the Child (I had to take my band shirt off just to get the song titles) so I don't find our show this year as interesting as last year's Sinatra/Jazz. If it weren't for You Tube I wouldn't even know what these doods looked like.

But I will still be there cheering them on for every game and competition this season. Cause I'm a parent and it's what we do...

I love me some Blood, Sweat and Tears! "Spinning Wheel" is my fave.

Our band is doing a 70's tribute for halftimes...Kiss, The Eagles, Village People...and...someone else, can't remember. It should be hilarious. After all, I'm a child of the 70's, so that's my era.

You need to post videos of the performances...eventually, I mean.

LOL, last night was not our season opener, but a jamboree at a school in a neighboring county. Their band played Queen, AC/DC, and Korn. I was more than a bit surprised to hear AC/DC, and especially Korn, from a high school marching band.

I will be spending many a night at the football stadium, watching, working concessions....there's a kickoff dinner next week, and I've already been down to help paint the fieldhouse. I think it's all fun now, but I'll probably be saying "NEVER AGAIN!" by the time the season's over.

I'm a high school teacher, and know how hard those band kids work. Ours have been out in the student parking lot in the hot sun for the last 3 weeks, tuning up their music, routines, etc. Here's to a great season!

Girl...
I done got the DVR all ready for some Tru Blood. Fer shure.

OK, not being a redneck anymore...
Seriously, I am looking forward to it, because (a) Vamps, hello!, (b) it takes place in Louisiana--and I'm all over southern locales, and (c) it has Anna Paquin in it, whom I adore.

I'm also looking forward to the new offering from JJ Abrams--"Fringe." Sci-Fi is my thing, you know. Oh, and the new 90210 series...because I graduated with the original West Beverly Hills gang, so it will be fun to relive it all over again, 15 years later. I also graduated with the Bayside High kids, too...but let's not go there, even though Zack Morris was rather cute.
