As the clock struck midnight...

...I was awake. Barely, but after two naps earlier in the evening I managed to hang on until 2010.

I was lying in the bed listening to the television. There was no champagne. No fireworks. No noisemakers.

I've done that kind of New Year celebration before and imagine I'll do it again. We were invited to New York and to Myrtle Beach so the opportunity was there. Instead it was just S & I.

Together.

The way it was meant to be.

Happy New Year to you & your families!

Greg and I have done the party till midnight routine too. This year was quiet. It was lovely. We were wrapped up under the blankets, listening to all the fireworks going on in the neighborhood and kissed into 2010!

Last year we had a relatively quiet New Year's with just Joe, me and the kids. This year we went to a friend's house, where Joe got outrageously drunk and the kids ran wild. Both were great ways to spend the holiday...

Glad you and S had a peaceful start to the New Year! Happy 2010!

We always have a quiet New Year as B works every year and doesn't get home until 11 pm. Some years I have thought of going to a party and then getting home before midnight, but what's the fun in that? Especially since B can't go.

That's okay though. Every time I have tried to plan something extravagant for New Year's Eve, it has always been a failure.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Love,
Dani

I was up and we shouted happy new year and toasted with sparkling cider with my hubby and the boys. Then 30 minutes later I had to go pick dd up from a dance. We narrowly missed being in a huge accident on the way home. Like it happened just seconds before we came upon it. Happy New Year!

So glad you had a peaceful and relaxing evening! We did the same. I was the only one awake for most of the night, as hubby and Dad and puppy all snoozed nearby. But it was perfect for me, because I was wiped out after this week of work and just wanted to rest.

Happy new year and hope you have a great weekend!

Sounds like perfection!

You go girl. That's the best way to ring in the new year! I was asleep by 10....I fell out reading a book....a good one I might add..."The Lovely Bones".

@Melissa - I loved that book! I have a feeling, though, that the movie is going to mess it up by leaving out key elements and story.

That sounds like a pretty awesome new year's eve. I made it to midnight. For the first time in three years. I'm so old.

For the last few years, we've celebrated New Year's with Shane's brothers and their families.

This year, however, we stayed home... Shane and I were both nursing sore throats and headaches. Good times.

The girls and I did manage to make it until midnight. Shane was asleep by 10:30.

Happy New Year, Brandy!

We went out, but have had as much (if not more) fun on those years we stayed in.

Same here... just me and the hubs, home alone, feeling sorry for Dick Clark. We did have champagne, but just one bottle for the occasion. Toasted and went to bed soon after midnight, which is TOTALLY fine with me. :)

Happy new year to ya, lady!

Coming by from SITS...

My husband didn't even make it til midnight... just 10pm. I was in bed mere minutes after midnight. Funny, though, I don't mind these quiet New Year's the older I get. I enjoy the peace and quiet, and knowing I won't have to drive for my life on the way home from anywhere!

The entire neighborhood was setting off fireworks and I still had to fight to stay awake.

Another year of just the fam ringing in the New Year. We like it and it works for us.
